About Lungisani Ngidi 's work:
Poem Title:
ABAKHUBAZEKILE
Poem Theme:
Resilient and struggles
Poem Inspiration:
The poem Abakhubazekile was inspired by my time spent with people living with disabilities at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Listening to their stories, seeing how they navigate life, and understanding the small victories they celebrate moved me deeply. I wanted to create a piece that not only reflected their experiences but also honoured their strength and resilience.

Too often, the world focuses on what they cannot do, rather than recognising their abilities and the remarkable things they achieve—sometimes in ways others overlook. This poem speaks to that truth. It has touched hearts because it invites people to see beyond the disability, into the person, the dreamer, and the achiever within.
How long have they been writing poems:
I have been writing since 2006, using words to capture human stories, emotions, and moments that often go unnoticed.
How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:
I discovered my passion for poetry and word art early in life, but it truly blossomed in 2006 when I began writing deliberately to give voice to stories that often go unheard. Poetry became a powerful tool for me — a way to connect with others, explore deep emotions, and capture the beauty and struggles of everyday life.

I realized that words have the power to heal, to inspire, and to create change. Over time, I saw how poetry could build bridges between people and bring attention to important social issues. This realization fueled my love for crafting poems that speak to the heart, reflect culture, and celebrate resilience.

For me, poetry is not just an art; it is a way of life and a sacred conversation with the world.
