About Phumelela Ningi's work:
Poem Title:
FAITH THROUGH GENERATIONS
Poem Theme:
My poem is centered on faith being a generational thing. Though worship music has changed through time, the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ has not.
Poem Inspiration:
What inspired this poem was that I grew up in a family of faith. It’s inspired by what my grandparents passed on to me. My grandmother used to take me to church on Christmas Day in the village, no one would be there. She would kneel , sing and pray then we would get up and walk home again. My grandfather when there would be no rain for months in the village, he would take his big yellow rain coat, head to the mountains to pray for rain. By the time he returned, it was raining. Carrying faith as a generation is a passion of mine.
How long have they been writing poems:
I remember some of my first writings around the age of 11.
How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:
It started off more so as a form of just expressing my emotions. Just writing about things that were happening to me then it grew as I read books and discovered there’s something known as poetry.
